How we recommend a plan
If the report shows your student doesn’t need tutoring, we’ll tell you. Here’s what usually points to each option.
Self-study
No repeated problem areas, or ones your student can fix on their own.
Flexible hours
1 to 9 hours for one narrow issue, a test review, or a short start.

Questions about pricing
Is the report really free?
Yes. You keep it, and you don’t have to buy tutoring. We build it from an UpstartPrep diagnostic, or from a recent test and the questions your student missed.
Do we need to choose a plan before the consultation?
No. Bring your student’s current score, target score, test date, and anything they’ve already tried. We’ll recommend a plan, and your family decides.
Why do longer plans cost less per hour?
The hourly rate is $200. Longer plans cost a little less per hour because we can schedule lessons and reserve your tutor’s time in advance.
How do practice tests and debriefs work?
Your student can take practice tests at no extra cost. If a tutor proctors, scores, or reviews a test with your student, that time comes out of your plan’s hours.
Does the free report work for every exam?
Yes. SAT and ACT students can take the online diagnostic now. For the ISEE, SSAT, or HSPT, send a recent official or practice test instead.
Can we build a smaller plan?
Yes. Buy 1 to 9 hours at $200 an hour. If you move to a larger plan later, the hours you’ve already used count toward it.
How can we pay?
Checkout runs through Stripe. You can pay by card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Link, or Amazon Pay if your device supports it. Any taxes are shown before you pay.
What if we need to cancel or stop tutoring?
Cancel or reschedule at least 24 hours before a session and the hour goes back to your balance. The first late-cancelled hour is returned once as a courtesy. If you stop tutoring, we refund every unused hour at the rate you paid.
What happens if a session is missed?
Sessions are online, and we remind both you and your student before each one. A session missed without notice is charged in full. If something unexpected comes up, tell us and we’ll look at it.
